WELCOME TO 5TH GRADE ELAR!

My name is Emma Hosch (formerly McPherson) and I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade ELAR at Seguin Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year!

 

I was born and raised in San Antonio and attended Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. This will be my third year teaching 5th grade and my second at Seguin. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my husband and our families, going out on the boat, going to country music concerts, trying out new restaurants, and watching Aggie sports!  

 

This year we will grow together as readers. We will:

• Read fun and interesting stories and talk about the characters, plot, and themes
• Explore poems, plays, and myths
• Learn how to figure out new words using clues in the text
• Find the main idea and important details in nonfiction texts
• Use text evidence to make predictions and draw conclusions
• Learn about why authors write and how they get their message across
• Compare books and stories to see how they’re alike and different
