Week of December 8th - 12th
ELAR: We will continue to describe explicit and implicit relationships among ideas in texts organized by cause-and-effect, sequence, and comparison. We will also compare simple and compound sentences with correct subject-verb agreement. We will continue looking at homophones (e.g. there, they-re, their and two, too, to)
MATH: We will add and subtract whole numbers using a wide variety of strategies, including the standard algorithm.
SCIENCE: We will apply our knowledge of the effect of force on an object when given a nonfiction science passage. We will also observe, identify, and describe properties of soil.
TEXAS HISTORY: We will analyze the causes, major events, and effects of the Texas Revolution.

ELAR: We will identify similarities and differences between the events and characters’ experiences in a fictional work and the actual events and experiences described in an author’s biography or autobiography. We will also use and understand the functions of time order transitions that indicate a conclusion in the context of reading writing, and speaking.
MATH: We will create and classify two-dimensional figures based on (different attributes) the presence or absences of parallel or perpendicular lines or the presences or absence of a specified size.
SCIENCE: We will design an experiment to test the effect of force on an object such as a push or a pull, gravity, friction, or magnetism.
TEXAS HISTORY: We will identify the accomplishments and explain the economic motivations and impact of significant empresarios, on the settlement of Texas. We will also dentify Texas’ role in the Mexican War of Independent and the war’s impact on the development of Texas.

ELAR: We will describe the structural elements used in dramatic literature. We will use and determine the function of adjectives. We will read and respond to questioning during independent reading time. We will write a personal narrative composition.
Math: We will use various strategies to understand the effects of multiplying by a multiple of 10.
Science: We will differentiate among various forms of energy, including mechanical, sound, electrical, light, and heat/thermal.
Texas History: We will summarize and identify reasons European explorers were motivated to explore Texas and the Western Hemisphere.
